Lead toxicity

Like most individual toxins, lead toxicity is not a big problem overall, but it is reasonable to suppose that when ingestion is the main route of entry, lead is more of a problem in those few with two characteristics: 1.) higher intakes coupled with 2.) considerably weaker than average defenses against lead toxicity, including much lower than average calcium intake.

Should lead prove to be an essential trace nutrient, the situation is even more complicated, including the mere fact that overconsumption of calcium would become a bigger problem.
