Alcohol and the body

Alcohol is a poison, but the body metabolizes it as a fuel source. If the body simply passed alcohol through the gut as a poison, it would likely still harm us, not with drunkenness, but with a gut overgrown with yeast, and a body that pays the price with yeast toxins from the entero-hepatic circulation (but with alcohol excluded in this hypothetical)because alcohol is yeast’s poison – yeast is highly resistant to it while most bacteria succumb to it.

Acidophilus bacteria use acid as a weapon and putrefactive bacteria use ammonia as a weapon. A balanced system results when no one type of organism dominates the gut flora.
