A simple rewording gets to the heart of the matter

Consider this example Re: Magnesium deficiency.

“Low levels of magnesium have been associated with a number of chronic diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, insulin resistance and type-2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular disease (e.g., stroke), migraine headaches, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).”

This statement is true, but the authors’ focus on magnesium has them missing the bigger picture, which is summarized here and says the same thing, only much more:

A simple rewording is more to the point and presupposes my testable assumption that nutrient deficiencies are always plural:

Chronic diseases are correlated with numerous nutrient deficiencies including magnesium…
