The failure of oncology

In all the years of cancer research, no one has found an x, such that:

  1. All cancer cells require x to survive.
  2. No normal cells require x to survive.

For example, most cancer cells require high level lactic acid transporter to survive, while few normal cells do. Unfortunately, red blood cells require high level lactic acid transporter to survive, as they, like cancer cells and overtaxed muscle cells, are sugar fermenters.
